Procedure for the assessment of LASER Systems

The LASER system falls into class 2M.

This type of LASER is safe for the skin but is not inherently safe for the eyes (as is the case for class 1 LASER); however eye protection is normally afforded by natural aversion responses to bright light.

It is important to note that the natural aversion response can be overridden intentionally by deliberately staring into the beam, and can be influenced by alcohol or drugs consumption.

Furthermore, people affected by disorders of colour vision, i.e. dyschromatopsias, are at higher risk, as they do not display an adequate dazzling.

All maintenance shall be performed by qualified personnel.

For proper use follow the instructions reported in the Owner’s Manual and in this procedure.

Avoid the use of observation optics (e.g. magnifying glasses), because they could increase the risk of ocular damage.
