Procedure for the assessment of LASER Systems

The LASER system falls into class 1M, but it incorporates an embedded class 3B or 4 LASER.

Verify that the following conditions are met:

presence of a LASER controlled area delimited by protective guards to prevent involuntary access to the radiation from the higher class LASER, connected to the interlock system;
display of hazard warning signs, indicating class and type of emitted radiation, at each entrance to the LASER controlled area;
workers' training on specific risks arising from LASERs;
maintenance operators that have to enter the LASER controlled area shall follow the indications of this procedure for safely using the LASER of the corresponding class (3B or 4).
